Swap: Potholder Pass III

May 6, 2010 by Michele

Potholder Pass III is my very first swap! Exciting! My secret swap person made it clear that he/she wanted colourful potholders, so I did my best to meet that challenge! Here are the potholders still in progress but almost done…
I attempted to machine quilt them but my old machine (Betty is at least, AT LEAST, 50 years old now) is not a quilter by nature, and refused to cooperate. In the end, I was forced to hand-quilt them, which was difficult because of their relative thickness. Only the binding remains to be done on number 2, and for the hanging mechanism I chose the low-tech loop, as you can see in the photos.
What do I love about potholders? They give you a sense of accomplishment for little effort, in a very short time!

They are definitely nice and bright and I'm sure just what your partner ordered! I love that 'snails trail' pattern. I made a little wall hanging with that pattern a few years ago.
