Let us hexamine the progress.

June 12, 2012 by Michele

As hexplained back here, the plan was to make 15 hexies a day for 133 days for a total of 2000 hexagons.

Well, I’m hexstatic to declare that it’s all going according to plan, hee hee. 27 days in, and I can proudly boast 405 little cuties in my collection. According to my calculations, that’s a respectable 20% done. Which is an actual real-life honest-to-goodness number. Am I’m doing it? Am I actually doing it?

I’ve even begun hand-sewing the lot together in little bunches of 16; I’ve got 9 of these bunches made up. It’s pretty neat seeing them all cozied up together as above.

Will my dream of a hexagon quilt actually happen? No one knows for sure I guess. But I’m now thinking that it really IS in the realm of possibilities.

Isn’t that hexciting?

BRAVO! I may need to tackle something like this soon. I seem to only get anything finished in big chunks. This would be a good way to prove to myself how well a-bit-at-a-time can really work, if you keep at it. Well done!

Smashing warm colours give this a much nicer hexie look and they are so therapeutic to sit and stitch arent they.
Ive embellished, felted woollen hexies down on linen recently and then hand stitched onto them…….heaven knows what I will use them for but they do look interesting.
I was trying out my new 12 needle machine and got abit carried away!
